Establish your business as a thought leader

The key to becoming a thought leader is to get your voice heard in the community and market place that you operate. People begin to believe someone is a thought leader when others in their market place value on what they are saying.
Thought leader is business jargon for an entity that is recognized for having innovative ideas. A distinguishing characteristic of a thought leader is “the recognition from the outside world that the company deeply understands its business, the needs of its customers, and the broader marketplace in which it operates

To do this your voice must be heard and in a variety of communication channels. In the mid 90′s wanna be journalists realised they could get their voice heard directly by the public by writing small article on websites and publicising the content. Those bloggers who really understood their topics and market place, have grown and now produce podcasts, blogs, written books and appear on television as experts. In your market place you can establish your self as a thought leader by:

  • Attending conferences and undertaking public speaking
  • Produce a blog on your website and tell the world about your expertise
  • Run email campaigns in which tell your customers and market place experts about you and your business
  • Build up a following on the right social network for your business, whether that be Google+ or Facebook
  • Undertake surveys in which you ask questions that show you to be an expert in your field
